Best Military Career In Preparation Of Becoming A Seal?

My ultimate goal now is to become a Navy SEAL. I would like to go straight into the military without college (Really don’t think college is for me), but being 18 now I know I won’t be either physically or mentally ready once I graduate high school, that only being 8 months away. I would like to go into a military career for about 4 years right out of high school for preparation and was wondering which branch and job would be best suited to prepare me.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not some obese, out of shape guy, on the contrary I’m in rather good shape, running and working out daily, just not quit SEAL material. (I also have the mental capacity, scoring a 96 on the practice ASVAB, and being in the top 20 of my class.)
So which military path would be best to prepare me for SEALS?

“wondering which branch and job”_ First I hope you know that teh SEALs are all navy. Then it depends on what you want to do as a seal, I wold look at it like the nfl there are no gurantees that you would pass, most peopel who go out dont make it for various reasons, number one is that they dont have the sack to be a seal. IT takes a superior mind, without the discipline it takes to earn a 4 year degree I dont think you would pass. However there are plenty of seals who do with out one, but picka job you know you would like to do even if you did not make it as a seal. Like medic, IT, gunnersmate, you know the fun jobs,

    You have 8 months,
Why would you need more time than that ?
Just start training now, at your age, you will see results quickly.

I know the army now has a “direct path” to special forces meaning that upon meeting elevated requirements you can enlist for special forces. All of your training is then segregated: you go through basic training with other SF recruits, AIT with other SF recruits, etc. all the way through the process. I have a few buddies that are SEALs and traditionally you had to enter the navy, be in for a minimum of 2 yrs, then apply for BUDS (basic underwater demolition school). However I have heard from them (but don’t quote me) that the navy now allows direct enlistment for SEALs as well. Your best bet is to talk to a navy recruiter and see what your options are.
