My sister was offered a job with this company, and now she is quite concerned about loosing the job offer because she has bad credit. Mind you, she was honest to tell them she does not have good credit. Do you think she would loose this opportunity? And if they refuse her, why would they offer her a job before even telling her she is hired? That doesn’t sound right.
is it possible to get a job related to finance major if i have a BS in economics? the reason is because i can’t get into the business school at my college and i am currently a econ major in liberal arts.
Next year I am receiving my bachelor in Finance. What kind of jobs should I look for to start out. I have only worked as cashier for a grocery store for 2 years, and i have been an office helper for about one year,and also a teacher’s aid for 1 1/2 years. That’s all my work experience. Not really that hard of work.After I graduate, how do i apply for jobs. Do i go in and ask for an application or do i send out resumes or what? I ask been throwing around the idea of working at a bank as a teller to start out. What are some other jobs that are good? Thanks for any help.
He is not fresh out of college. It would be like a second career working as a financial advisor, which is what he loves to do in his spare time, but has no real experience as a salesperson. Should he make this change not knowing how much they pay at the beginning and how much he could make finding customers? I think we could cope financially if I stay at my job but I only make 1/2 of what he does.
It’s not hard to get a job with a place like Ameriprise, but know that you will really be a salesman making cold calls and hounding your friends and family and trying to sell them investments/insurance that pays your company and costs them a bundle in fees.
If you don’t get a bunch of people to buy the investments you sell, you’re fired.

College hasnt been as challenging as I thought it would be. Its probably just the college im attending. Anyways Im looking to the future and trying to prepare. This semester I am taking some basic finance classes that count towards my major. What does everyone think?
pls suggest me only if you know about this company and kinda exposure they give to the freshers?

You and I might be in the same boat. I have my college degree in a liberal arts/humanities area and several master’s hours in humanities, but not in finance. With my current situation (student loans) I can’t afford to go back to being a FT bookkeeper making $9/hour just for the experience.
So, I’m taking online courses in accounting and preparing to undertake my MBA, which will take about 3 years. Check out geteducated.com. Hopefully with dedication & commitment, I’ll finish my MBA for less than $15,000. And I think my current employer will help cover some of the cost.
I guess in the meantime, contact some companies during their busy season (end of quarter is good) and volunteer to do some accounting data entry, even a few hours a week. Also, I’d keep a log of whatever informal study you do (books you read, hours spent studying, personal contacts made, etcetera.) Eventually, you will probably need some formal education in accounting/finance. I also know of people who sign on with financial advisery companies like Edward Jones, etcetera. It’s commission work, and not for me, but if you have the right sales personality, can open doors for you.
Also, there’s an organization/certificate process called CMA–certified management accountant. Look for CMA and IMA (Institute of Management Accountants) online. 5 years ago, you didn’t have to be an accounting major to go through their testing process, but you did need a college degree. Other types of memberships (like student) were available, and depending on where you live they might have an active chapter with monthly meetings, which would be great for networking.
Finally, wherever you’re working now, let others know you’d like to volunteer for projects involving budget analysis, financial modeling, etc. Tell them you’d be happy to help do the grunt work–that you value the exposure and experience.
