A degree from an online university is a mechanism used by working adults to qualify them for a position for which they are already qualified. Confused? Here's how it works: many corporations will not consider a candidate, regardless of qualifications, if the candidate does not have a college degree (or actively pursuing one). So, all they have to do is get the paper and they are able to move up the ladder.
Many, many, many people graduate from well respected Division I schools, but are unable to string coherent sentences together; ever hear some of these football players and basketball players speak? And do you really believe they have passed 6 credit hours of college level mathematics or written grammatically correct essays?

Bottom line: if you are worth your salt in your chosen field, any degree will get you to the next level. The cream always rises to the top.

I wish people would stop demonizing the few people brave enough to suggest maybe it wasn't right for them, to have had kids. Nobody is psychic enough to see how their lives will turn out and if they will enjoy parenting, until after the deed has been done..

The media portrays parenthood as pure bliss, assuring us with platitudes like "it's all worth it", when sometimes, for some people, it just isn't. I know more than a few moms who have secretly confided that if they'd known what motherhood was like before getting pregnant, they would have chosen differently. They've lost themselves, and have no identity beyond "so-and-so's mom", and weren't prepared even though they thought they were. That is not to say that they don't have moments of joy & that they don't love their children; they were simply unprepared for the reality maybe because their parent friends told them it was all Kodak moments & all kids are blessings. Sometimes, kids grow up to be plain awful people, no matter how well they are raised. Sometimes, when people are stupid enough to think, "well at least I'll have someone to care for me in old age", they're stunned when their adult kid/s move to the other side of the globe & see them maybe 4 times a year.
Face it - a lot of kids are plain ungrateful, selfish & not the little angels you thought they'd be, regardless of what a good job you've done.

Be prepared for bad as well as good; as with anything else being a parent is a great "unknown", like any other venture in life until you've experienced it. And people that shame & berate parents for telling the truth about how they feel should try some empathy. Just because THEIR experience was "all worth it!", doesn't mean someone else had the same outcome. All of life is a gamble, a risk, uncertainty & joy & failure at the same time...so try not to judge people who haven't had it as good as you may have; nobody has walked in another person's shoes.

OK, let me say this.... If you are wanting to go into the best military with no doubt, the best choice is the marines. I don't now where the general public got this "idea" that Marines weren't the smartest. The marines are the most varied branch, which means you can literally do anything that any other branches do while in the marines. I know marines that went into communications that scored higher on their SATs than an air force friend of mine that is a computer tech and everyone talks about how the air force computer techs are sooo smart. Point is you can be in combat or you could work at desk, but if the time comes that they need more personnel to go into combat they can take you out and insert you into an active deployement because marines have to be ready for combat always no matter what job they have in the Corps. Plus the Marines had the very first American Special forces Unit ever, the Marine Raiders, during WWII. Plus the Current MARSOC units can out-preforme the SEALs and Delta Force. And the SEALs don't understand how acronyms work.

@DEMON 1010

If you want to go special forces, join the army. I'm personally hoping to earn my commission as an officer of the Marine Corps, but I do not plan to become a career officer. Note - lieutenants are given command of a platoon (I'm talking infantry), however, for many of the special forces, you won't be given command of a platoon until you reach captain. You most likely won't be involved in too much direct action, so if you're seeking to be the bad ass on the ground, you might consider going the enlisted option.

Don't get suckered in by the Navy though (not hating, but this kid wants to go spec ops, and I'm assuming he means infantry, nothing like SOAR). If you wash out and don't make it as a SEAL, they'll stick you with a job I know you'll hate (how do you think they get people to take the shitty jobs?).

To everyone out there - you will not be guaranteed an MOS if you try to become an officer. Officers cost the military a lot of money - they won't stick you somewhere just 'cus you want it. You'll get to profess your preference, but know that you may not get it. However, if you want to fly, the USMC has flight contracts. That means you WILL FLY, but WHAT you will fly will depend on your performance in your class. If you do shitty, you're not going to get fighter jets or attack helicopters, but the transports (not knocking anyone who wants them, but most of the top dogs go for fighters, understandably).

Thank you Lee, I am trying to weigh the possibilities that await myself after completing my BA in Psychology and returning for a MA in counseling. My wishes are to return to the workforce in the counseling field within the local school districts within the Arizona school districts and was very happy to see your reply. I love both programs and believe that Argosy University will prepare me in the direction of counseling psychology. Thanks again for the comment it was much needed.
