If You Don’t Give A Proper 2 Weeks Notice, Is It Possible To Come Back To The Job If They Still Like You?

I worked at a job, but left to pursue career advancement as a Pharm. Tech. However, I missed my old job sometimes. I don’t want to leave my new one, but would like to also work part-time at my old one. Didn’t give proper 2 weeks, I tired. But when I still call or go up there to buy stuff, they always ask me if I’m still enjoying my new job. I know they still like me.

So ask, what would they say- “no, we hate you,” give it a shot they might ask you when you can start. :-)

Absolutely, they do understand that you have to do what’s best for you, if you were a good employee, they would be glad to have you back, even if it is only for part time, just say your question details to them, try to talk to them like people, not possible employers, you are past the interview stage, and most bosses do like a more personal approach, instead of a professional one, talk like you would to a friend, not a boss.

Sounds like you could, just ask your old boss.

    Anything is possible.
Not giving 2 week’s notice is definitely not a reason for them to not hire you. People put a lot of stock in bureaucratic procedures like this, but it really does boil down to “if they like you, they’ll want to hire you.” So don’t worry about the fact that you didn’t give notice when you quit.
It absolutely doesn’t hurt to ask. The worst thing that’ll happen is that they’ll find a polite way to say no (i.e. “Sorry, we don’t have enough shifts”), and you’ll feel awkward for awhile every time you go up there, but that will pass. Or, they might just be happy to hire you! Either way, if you DON’T ask, they certainly WON’T hire you.

If they still make conversation with you I would say why not try to get your job back. You sound like me I left my job without a two week notice it was a spur of the moment thing. I did let them know(at the last minute) and my supervisor told me to feel free to come back whenever. The only thing is I am too embarrassed to go back since I left without notice and this was my second time leaving this job within a five year period. I would love to go back but I know that the other workers will talk because they are still there and it has been over two years.

Yes, you can get your job back. I’ve left many a job, well, all my previous jobs, without giving a 2 week notice. While it is nice for the employer to receive notice, generally speaking, if enough time has passed, they will re-hire you.
