It’s only advisable if you accept the fact that it’s a career with the responsibility of possibly risking your life in a war you don’t support. Even though I’m against the war, I’ve been utterly shocked that military personel have voiced the belief they have a say in whether they fight or not. They joined the military for goodness sake. It wasn’t a draft! If you join, accept the fact you could be sent to war.
The upside is you can retire in your 30s and start an entirely new career while collecting a military pension.

Depends on you, and weather you’d like it or not. I’m not a military person myself, but I know that it has it’s benefits and negatives. For example, you can get an education for free (in most cases), you can travel a lot, be in good physical shape and belong to a “family”.
On the other hand, there are a lot of negatives that go with it too. For example, if you go overseas you could be away from your family for a long time. Or, you could be put into danger.
Again… it depends on you and what you’d like to do.

Not right now, unless you want to die in Iraq. It would be a pretty short career.

I would actually go with a career in the military. You can get into an specific field of your choice, pending man power. In the field of your choice you can learn new and exciting skill trades for when you retire, after only 20 years, you can get a small job on the outside for a little more money to include your retirement check from the military. While in the military on active duty, you can get full medical and dental benefits as well as a nice life insurance policy for you and your family if you are married. I overall say the life of the military is different because the military would be your life.

    Hello,
I am a spc in the army. I just wanted to tell you that if you plan on having a family, the military is great! I have been in the army almost 4 years now, and am currently in Iraq. Do not listen to what people say about the military if they havent served. Ask yourself these questions to see if you wanna join.
    1. what jobs do you know that guarentee that you will not be laid off?
    2. what jobs give you 100 percent medical and dental?
    3. what jobs give you 30 days paid vacation each year?
    4. what job will let you off of work to go to college classes…..and pay for them?
    5. what job lets you fire amazing weapons and pays you for it?
The military is something that will teach you many things, of course there are things you will not like along the way, but its all about self improvement. I am 21 years old, and about to be a sergeant! Not to mention i have seen most of the world…ie, Korea,Germany,India,Phillipines,Thailand… Japan!
Its all about what do you want your life to be like……….My father has raised 2 kids, has a grandchild, and tells me very often he wishes he could have seen and done the things i have.
Oh-by the way……just because you are in the military and in iraq doesnt mean you have to get shot at, there are many jobs……hell I am a air conditioner mechanic……………do you know how much we make in the civilian world?,,,,,,lets just say when i get out I have it made!
I hope this has helped you, if you wanna talk more just say so.
    SPC Evans
