Is There Such A Thing As An Online Professor Career?

If you mean like a college prof. I would guess mostly. Mainly because I think that you still need to be present for some courses that you may have to teach and for meetings and such. But there are many courses that are now offered online. I have taken 3-4 of them myself, without ever meeting my prof or “class mates”

You can usually teach some of your courses through distance education methods. You can do this as a adjunct professor.
But to be a real tenured professor you usually have to teach in person classes, volunteer to serve as an academic advisor, supervise interns, and serve on a million other committees as well as hold standard office hours.
While more and more schools are taking advantage of distance education technologies. The reputations of the strictly distance education schools is dropping. The last time we hired for faculty the ad stated that people with degrees from on-line universities need not apply.
