Online College Or Junior College Or A University?

I’m trying to get a job at my old highschool to be a para for the special education children. That means I would LOVE my job, get paid well, and have to stay in my hometown. Problem is, this fall I have to go to college. I could go to a Junior college, where it’s cheap and about 30 minutes away, or I could even do online college.
But, all my friends go to universities and they love it. Would I be missing out? I really wanted to get away and explore, learn about myself, etc. I’m nervous that I will make a wrong decision….if I go to a university, I can’t work at my highschool anymore. I’m just so confused!
I need advice! Whenever I ask friends/parents/teachers, they always seem to give me advice that’s directed towards them. I need advice that’s good for ME! Please help!

Are you a good, motivated student and do you have the money to go the university? If yes, I urge you to take that option. A university does so much to expand your horizons and learn about many things, both in and outside the classroom. You could even major in Special Education so you can be an even better para or even a teacher when you’re done
If you’re not a motivated student, I recommend you go to the junior college and save on room and board by living at home. Also, you will be able to keep your job.
I don’t recommend online classes. There’s so much to learn from the other students and from a professor, whether at the university or the junior college. If you decide on online classes, however, make sure you enroll in a legitimate college or university. There are legitimate on-line courses, but many are expensive rip-offs.

  • If that is your goal, then go to the local junior college, and save yourself a whole lot of money.
Life is not fun when you have a mountain of crushing debt weighing on you.
Online colleges are not a good option, unless you have special needs – are working (etc). If you go that way, be sure you go to one that is REGIONALLY ACCREDITED. nationally accredited is NOT GOOD.
But I recommend you do the junior college route, where you can be close to home and have help from your family if you need it.

You can go to a Junior college for 2 years and then go to a university.
You save money, and you can get all the general ed stuff out of the way.
