Online Masters At Drexel?

I have a serious question. I am a 30 year old man with basically no career. I have always worked, tried different jobs here and there, nothing really interests me that much. I went to a very good Undergrad University and have a degreee in Teaching. Anyways, I NEED to have a Masters Degree, so many jobs look at it, I need to have one. The problem is that right now I am living overseas working, and I cant even imagine going back to teh U.S., getting a BS temp job while I get a degree done in 2-3 years. I know online programs arent the greatest, but found one via DREXEL UNiveristy, so it is actually a legit one, nothing like U of Phoenix, etc. The Masters is in International and Global Education, and is taught by regular fulltime Drexel Professors. What do you think if I did this onlien Masters. What do you think of the school? I would be living abroad while I did it? Opinions on doign this?

  • You should find out what types of job placement Drexel graduates from this program have found. I agree, Drexel is a good university, so the online program would have more credibility. What is your goal–training in a corporation, teaching at an International Baccalaureate program in high school, or some other? That makes a difference. You should have some intern or related work as well.

Online education at Drexel is a great idea consdiering that the university is legitimate and accredited. I think you should look up the internet for information on the university and the program in particular. i would suggest the following websites as they present in-depth information about the university;s online program, costs and possible career outcomes. the websites are:http://www.onlineedublog.com/http://www.oedb.org/

I’m not sure what your career goals are, and you must consider them when looking at master’s degree programs. You want to be sure that, if a masters is required or preferred in your field, the masters you are considering is in the right subject to get you the jobs you want.
That said, you’re doing this smartly: you’re looking only at online degrees offered by reputable brick and mortar universities. Drexel is reputable. It’s even good. So they’d be a solid choice for an online degree.
I don’t know if the following schools offer your field in their master’s degree programs, but all of these good schools do offer online masters degrees, and have a good rep as brick and mortar schools: Penn State, U Maryland, UMass Amherst, Northeastern, Boston University, U Florida, Worcester Polytechnic, U Nebraska Lincoln, Iowa State. But Drexel is a solid choice.
I see no problem with you living abroad while you do the Drexel degree. There will be other “international” students in your classes. That’s actually pretty common. Drexel can even tell you what percentage of their students are based outside the US.
