Should I Get A Master’s In Tesol Online?

Hi. I just started teaching English in Korea a month ago. My contract is for a year. I want to go to France as an English teaching assistant next year if I can get that job. Otherwise, I’ll stay in Asia (probably Korea or Japan) for at least another year because I am so much happier with this job then I’ve been with any other. I am also fluent in Russian and hope to become fluent in French (took it throughout college). I think I might want to turn language education into a career. If I get a TESOL master’s online, will it increase my salary in Asia, South America and Europe? Also, If I pass the subject tests in Russian and French for American teachers and have an online master’s in TESOL, will I be able to teach these languages in the United States? I know that TESOL is about teaching English, but it’s still a degree in teaching a foreign language. Will anyone take an online degree seriously anyway? What if it’s an online master’s, but from an actual university? Thanks.

  • TESOL is TESOL wherever you get it. That’s the nice thing about standardized acredidation. Go for it. As long as you get TESOL you’ll be just as well off as any regular degree , traditional college student. And yes it will open up some higher paying, more responsible jobs as well, though many also prefer someone with at least early advanced Local language proficiency.

To supplement your income you can also become an online teacher at http://wiziq.com
It will help you build an online teaching business that is a growing industry, especially for teaching English.
