I am attending University of Phoenix, I think it’s great.
Have you thought about Walden University? They are actually accredited and have some Masters in Psychology programs that feed right into their PhD programs. They have several licensure programs as well. It is the most respected and legitimate online psychology program. I am halfway through the Health Psychology PhD program and am really learning a lot and enjoying it. They are almost completely online but you will have to attend at least 4 face to face residencies for the PhD programs, not sure on the Masters.

Honestly for psychology they are both garbage schools. You will not find employment in the field of psychology with a degree from either of these diploma mills. Yes I realize they are accredited, but finding employment in the field of psychology is highly competitive. If you just want to work at a half-way house or in social work/social services then you don’t need a Master’s or a degree in psychology for that. What do you want to do with the degree? I wouldn’t want to go to an employer with a degree from either of these schools and if you are interviewing for a job in research or academia…well, don’t worry about that, you’d never be called for the interview in the 1st place.
FYI – some of Walden’s psychology programs are licensed and some are not. You need to inquire with the APA about if a program is accredited by the APA and if you can get licensed with this particular program. Don’t ask the school, they just want your money. You had better check with the
APA, they are the authority on this.
The University of Phoenix is more popular and is well known throughout the U.S..
However, you have to see what school is accredited in Psychology.
My choice would be Phoenix.
[...] jamesgundun wrote an interesting post today onHere’s a quick excerptI need some help here from folks that have been to either program. I am about to attend one of these fine schools via online adult education for my Masters in Psychology (I can then analyze you all better) and I am looking for insight. [...]
I have a masters degree from Argosy University in counseling psychology. I loved the program, and currently have a job at a middle school in Southern California as a counselor. Please disregard Dan’s comments because he clearly is uneducated and shouldn’t comment when he doesn’t have the facts.
