I’m a Web Developer for a company within an industry primarily dominated by men. Eventhough I have 6 years experience, eventhough I improved the company’s websites which gained more sales leads and higher search engine ranking, eventhough I’ve created web applications that get the job done… I haven’t been given the recognition or advancement opportunities promised to me during the interview process. When it comes to work, I’m competent. I get the job done. Because I am so focused, I don’t talk to co-workers alot however I do maintain a pleasent work relationship with them. I don’t know if its because I’m a woman or because of may race, but; no matter my success I feel my current position will limit me career wise, in which case I’ll except more money to put up with. However, I want to advance at some point. What should I do? Should I look for something else or give it another 6 months?

Women face stereotypes and cultural expectations which hold them back from pursuing leadership, careers, or higher education. Is there any other problems you can think of? How can we fix these problems? Any solutions?

Hi, I’m looking for some advice on sales careers. I currently work in the financial sector and want to eventually switch to a sales career.
Any recommendations about which kind of sales job would have the most potential for me to advance the furthest within a few years?
I have real estate sales experience and a bachelor’s in Business Administration. Sales in any field would be fine, as long as the potential is good.
TIA

If your company does not offer many advancements or career growth is it important? Would it make you leave? Would it make you less productive or resentful??
Does your company have career ladders, succession planning, or professional development coaching?

I heard about these accounts a few months ago and went to a meeting Fort Bragg was having to give out information about them. We were told then (back in May) that in order to be able to receive any money we’d have to have our degree/license/etc completed by June 30, 2010. Does anyone know if they’ve extended this deadline or not? I’ve been on the website (caa.milspouse.org), but it doesn’t say anything about it. Also, do I have to register for my classes first, or apply for the CAA first? Any information you have would be great!
