Do You Have Any Information About The Career Advancement Accounts For Military Spouses?

I heard about these accounts a few months ago and went to a meeting Fort Bragg was having to give out information about them. We were told then (back in May) that in order to be able to receive any money we’d have to have our degree/license/etc completed by June 30, 2010. Does anyone know if they’ve extended this deadline or not? I’ve been on the website (caa.milspouse.org), but it doesn’t say anything about it. Also, do I have to register for my classes first, or apply for the CAA first? Any information you have would be great!

Value Of Corporate Experience In Career Advancement?

This is a very subjective matter, I understand.
I am hoping to hear answers from Sr. Levels of Management (VP and up) in Consumer Packaging or Manufacturing or Biotech/Pharma.
I am currently in Field Sales. Have the opportunity to move to corporate and go inside.
How important is going inside for a few years and working as a Product Manager or some such thing if you want to advance?
Is this a practical route to greater opporutnity?
Do most fortune 500 companies value cross training such as this?
I dread being a desk jockey but for the experience and contacts I think I can hang on for two years.

Why Does Everyone Feel Career Advancement Is So Important?

You don’t have to have a great paying job and keep advancing. This isn’t for everyone. In fact, it is some of these same people who end up with ulcers and heart attacks. Obviously certain lifestyles require a person to earn a lot of money. Kids are expensive, but I think a lot of people are just working there butts off to pay for things they want instead of things they need. What’s wrong with someone wanting to keep the same mediocre job for years and live in an averaged smaller sized house (I say this because people tend to want bigger flashier homes.) if they are content, and not depriving anyone else? That’s what makes some people happy. They come home from their regular job and watch TV. It’s okay.

I did my BSc (Hons) in Computing and am presently working in a law firm as a network administrator. I would like to know are there any resources available online which can allow me to grow professionally.
More specifically I need

3. case studies related to network administration issues in the
real world and how they were solved.
4. online magazines which keep me updated on whatever is happening in the world of networking.
This is kinda urgent and important so only serious answers will be entertained.

I have been working in IT for about 5 years now. Most of my work is level1 and level2 support but I do tackle more network based issues as well. I have wide variety of skills but am not a master at them. I want to move into a network administrator position in the near future (1-4 years) but don’t know how to go about it if I don’t have the experience?? Moving up is important to me but it seems near impossible without relevant experience. Any suggestions?????
