I also have heard of aptitude tests and wondered if I need a certain score to become a firefighter in the military?
off the topic……..does real absinthe in paris really make you trip out. And if so how many shots of this absinthe does the trick on getting you wasted and seeing things?

My ultimate goal now is to become a Navy SEAL. I would like to go straight into the military without college (Really don’t think college is for me), but being 18 now I know I won’t be either physically or mentally ready once I graduate high school, that only being 8 months away. I would like to go into a military career for about 4 years right out of high school for preparation and was wondering which branch and job would be best suited to prepare me.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not some obese, out of shape guy, on the contrary I’m in rather good shape, running and working out daily, just not quit SEAL material. (I also have the mental capacity, scoring a 96 on the practice ASVAB, and being in the top 20 of my class.)
So which military path would be best to prepare me for SEALS?

Is it possible that if I join the military now, at 34 years old, and unfortunately did not register for the draft because I was in and out of the country and didn’t have a stable permanent address, that when it comes time to retire at 55, I will lose my retirement benefits because I didn’t register?
I understand that one of the consequences of not registering for the draft is the ineligibility to receive federal funds.
I want to build a military career, and they will let me enlist, the rest of my record is perfectly clean… but I’m concerned this fine print could be a BIG problem 20 years from now.

I am in a cadet corp, and i love it. It has made me want to join the military. I want to personally join Army. Honestly I dont mind being sent out to the middle east as long as i get the good training needed such as those of special forces so i can be better prepared or Ranger school training and whatnot. My family though doesn’t want me in the army. They are always telling me to go navy. But i dont want to be on a boat. It sounds boring. I dont care if they go around the world. Idea of being on a boat makes me sick. I would want to be either an MP or go straight for airborne. But i am not sure. People are always telling me that i will die, but its getting so annoying to a point that i really dont care about being deployed anymore. But I am just worried that am I being selfish if i go active because it would affact my father and brother and stuff like that. and my other family members. I really want to be active soldier, if i told them this, they would just think Im insane though.

I am going through a Radiology Technologist program in the next year and recently after being on the wait list for years i have gotten more interested in joining the U.S. navy or air force.
I am wondering what peoples thoughts are on if it is possible to get a position as a rad tech in some branch of the military with or without being enlisted as a soldier. Or rather, is it possible to enlist in the navy (or air force) and be guaranteed a non-combat position in a medical imaging section of a infirmary or military hospital?

Im 18 years old and was considering the canadian forces after I complete my degree. So I have a few questions that someone with canadian army expeirance can answer.
What are the requirements to join the army?
can you leave the army when you please or is there a certain amount of time you must serve?
Is a career in the Canadian forces rewarding- like fulfillment, happiness?
Is it adventurous like some people say?
Is it really hard to join?

Im contemplating a career with the armed forces. Specifically Canada.
