If you are a high school student entering into college for the first time or a non-traditional student joining the academic world for the first time, then you are faced with the problem of having enough money to pay for your college education. How do you pay for college? Financial aid for students is the number one academic concern that can keep a lot of people out of school when in reality it does not need to be this way. There are ways to go to school and get the money you need to do so. But first you will need to become familiar with the FAFSA.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is a form used by the Department of Education to determine your eligibility for federal grant programs such as the Pell Grant. The information you provide lets them know your income and your demographic information. Without filling out the paperwork you may not be eligible to receive some student loans and most certainly will not receive any grant money for your educational expenses.

When filling out the application, you will need some information about yourself. Obviously, you will need to supply very important personal information, such as your name, address, school of choice (up to three that will receive your report), social security number and your previous year’s tax information. The tax information is used to determine how much you make and how much money in Pell Grants you will be able to receive.

Pell Grants are free grant money from the United States government that you do not have to pay back. It is awarded based on your financial need.

This is the best way to help pay for school since you do not have to worry about accumulating student loan debt. Granted, you will probably still need to take out student loans to help finish paying for your expenses but the Pell Grant can lessen the debt load.

After filling out the FAFSA, you will receive a SAR, or Student Aid Report, that will detail how much money you are eligible to receive. It will also inform you of your disbursement dates. This allows you to plan on when your money will be arriving.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid is an invaluable tool used to help determine eligibility and helps students to go to school, who otherwise may not be able to attend. You need to fill out one of these applications even if you know you are not eligible for a Pell Grant because even student loans use this information. Good luck in school!

Studying for the GED exam can seem difficult. After all, most people who left school had some problems learning in traditional classrooms. But the ways that students have traditionally been expected to learn in school aren’t always the best. By understanding how your brain learns best, you can make your own studying more effective.

Learning for the GED is a self-driven activity, so GED learners need to take charge of their learning. Often, the only type of learning that a GED student is familiar with is classroom learning, involving a lot of memorization of facts and dates and run by a teacher who directs what everyone should do. Studying on your own is different and more effective.

The GED doesn’t depend on memorization. It depends on understanding, and learning for understanding doesn’t necessarily mean getting everything right. According to a recent study by Nate Kornell, Matthew Hays, and Robert Bjork at UCLA, making errors and mistakes as you learn can actually help you understand and remember. The results of this study showed that if students take hard tests or practice difficult questions and get the wrong answers, they learn better.

Trying and failing serves a purpose! Getting the wrong answer gets your attention, and gives you incentive to learn. It shows you where you need to go. Understanding that a wrong answer isn’t “bad” can help a lot. Many GED students get frustrated with wrong answers, but think of a wrong answer as a learning tool, another step toward your GED.

So, how can you use wrong answers as learning tools in your own GED studying? When you’re studying a topic, don’t be afraid to test yourself, and don’t be afraid of difficult questions. Give answering your best shot, and then, if you get the wrong answer, find out why. Getting the wrong answer will actually help you learn better.

Make sure your GED study materials include good answers to practice questions, answers that will help you learn after each wrong answer. That’s a key to success, taking your wrong answers and turning them into learning. It’s one of the cornerstones that GED Academy builds into its GED Prep Program. If you look at the explanation of a question you’ve gotten wrong and don’t really understand it, try going back and finding the answer in your study materials or online, or talking to a teacher, tutor, friend, or family member who can help you understand. The wrong answer is your motivation, so use it as your jumping-off point for learning.

The study “Unsuccessful retrieval attempts enhance subsequent learning.” can be found at: http://psycnet.apa.org/index.cfm?fa=buy.optionToBuy&id=2009-09620-017&CFID=24407194&CFTOKEN=49068829

High school students heading for college will want to complete their Free Application for Federal Student Aid as early as possible in their senior year of high school. The Federal government is still the nation’s most important source of college funding, disbursing 80 billion dollars of student aid per annum as grants, work-study wage or loans. If you want to get your share of the Federal education pie, you’ll want to file your FAFSA application promptly.

The FAFSA application process has an undeserved reputation as a being difficult to understand and hard to complete. This impression may have been fostered in part by third-party fee-for-service providers that have made a business of helping applicants complete the necessary forms. However, the application process is much easier than its reputation and the Federal government has extensive online help to guide you through the three-step process. Also, the government charges no fees of any kind. The FAFSA application is free to all.

You’ll want to kick off Step One of the FAFSA application process by applying for and receiving your own personal identification number, or PIN. Your PIN makes it possible to apply for student aid online, a process the government has streamlined and made as easy as possible. Your PIN also makes it possible to sign your FAFSA application online and access and correct your Student Aid Report. The SAR is the report you’ll receive once the government has processed your completed FAFSA application. It tells you the level of Federal student aid to which you may be entitled based on your financial need.

Get your PIN at pin.ed.gov before you move on to Step Two of the application process. In this step, you should complete your FAFSA application online at fafsa.ed.gov, a site also known as FAFSA on the Web. The government has designed this site to offer step-by-step instructions as you answer each question in the FAFSA application. The online process also catches any potential mistakes you make and prompts you to correct them. Finally, filing your FAFSA application online is fast. You’ll receive confirmation of the receipt of your application immediately and the typical FAFSA application is usually processed in just a few days.

In Step Three of the application process, you’ll receive your SAR, or Student Aid Report, approximately three to five days after filing your FAFSA application online, or in seven to ten days if you filed by mail. The SAR contains your Expected Family Contribution, or EFC, which is the amount your family is estimated to be able to contribute to your college education. Your financial need is determined by subtracting the EFC from the cost of attendance at a particular college or university. Once you receive your SAR, review it for any errors and once it’s complete, contact the financial aid office at the college or colleges you’re considering. The financial aid office will let you know the type and amount of financial aid a particular college is willing to offer.

While not difficult to understand or complete, this three-step application process has more details than can be covered in a short article such as this. But the information provided here should pave the way for reviewing an easy-to-read, comprehensive government document that will shepherd you through the application process. Download the 60-page PDF document, entitled “Funding Education Beyond High School”, from studentaid.ed.gov.

The word coaching is synonymous with sports teams. A coach can help athletes to develop the mindset to achieve, to set and achieve goals that to many people seem insurmountable, but with focus and clarity, can be met or exceeded. They can help a sportsperson to reach their full potential by planning structured training programmes, providing feedback on performance, and helping them to become more effective.

However, coaching has become more prevalent in other areas. Life coaching has developed significantly over the last few years, with many coaches specialising in niche areas such as health, financial and career coaching to name a few.

To concentrate on the rising demand for employing a career coach, why should you choose a coach to help you to progress in your career?

A career coach will help you in many ways. Like in the description of a sports coach above, they will help you to develop and reach your potential, be successful and achieve results. A career coach will normally work with you on a one-to-one basis and will often offer group workshops, teleseminars and e-books to support you to progress in your career.

A career coach can help you in the following areas:

Career exploration and discovery

You may be unhappy or dissatisfied in your job and feel that there is something else out there, but are not sure what it is. A career coach can help you to discover what is important to you in your job and make sure that it uses your talents, skills, and strengths, and provides you with the reward you deserve.

Understand your strengths and weaknesses

A career coach will help you to develop an insight into your strengths and weaknesses. This will allow you to understand yourself better and support any decisions you make in your career. It will highlight areas you may not have considered before and you can address any weaknesses that may be holding you back or use them to your advantage.

Develop your career vision and design your career

A career coach can help you to structure a plan to progress your career. By helping you to understand your skills and abilities, they can help you to plan your ideal job and how you are going to get there.

Develop confidence in your own ability

You may have a plan for your future, but you may be consciously or subconsciously holding yourself back. A career coach can help you to develop greater confidence in your ability as well as providing you with the support and motivation to help you to achieve your goal.

Provide job search support

A career coach can help you during all stages of your job search. From helping you to develop your CV, to finding the ideal job and then succeeding at the interview, a career coach will support you every step of the way.

Help you to get ready for promotion

You don’t need to want to change your career to benefit from employing a career coach. They can help you to get ready for promotion, plan for the next step in your career, and support you to develop your talents.

Support you in the workplace

If you are unhappy at work, there may be many reasons why this may be so. A career coach can also help you to deal with difficult situations or people and become more assertive. You can increase your profile at work, build better relationships and improve your own personal effectiveness.

Make sure that your goals are congruent with other parts of your life

A career does not exist on its own and is part of your overall life. It is important that a career coach makes sure that your career goals fit in well with other parts of your life. For example, if work/life balance is essential for you, they will ensure that you consider this when planning or progressing your career.

Provide you with greater self awareness

Some career coaches will use psychometric tests or other techniques that will help you to develop a greater self awareness of yourself. A greater self awareness will help you to understand yourself better, build stronger relationships, and communicate more effectively.

Support you every step of the way

Like other coaches, career coaches will support you every step of the way.

Their role is to:

- Challenge you and ensure that you commit to making the changes you desire.

- Hold you accountable to the actions you want to take. You will need to report on your results, which means that as well as being accountable to yourself, you need to demonstrate what you have achieved to your coach.

- Question you and challenge your ideas and thoughts.

- Listen to you without any agenda for themselves, which gives you a chance to come up with your own solutions which are right for you.

- Celebrate your successes and recognise when you have overcome difficulties or challenges.

- Keep you motivated even when the going gets tough!

I was thinking on going back to the navy and joining because last year I left before bootcamp. But i think it was a mistake. And the hole year I didnt really do anything. And I am going to go back. But at the same would like to study to become a geneticists. I never really had any good ideas of what I wanted to be when I grow but I always liked learning about health biology and those types of of science. And dietics doesn’t pay good. I saw on discovery science channel a documentary called super humans with people and special talents/ abilities. a women can see and taste music sounds and a guy can regulate his body temp in extreme cold. And it was all pretty interesting And was thinking about it but what kind of websites have college courses for becoming a geneticists? Also I used to be decent in math not good but now I pretty much forgot my math, just know basic math. its the only thing I worry about in academics really. Math is the hardest for me to learn and I am good at writing and reading even though I never read books.I know I made mistakes but I really don’t feel like spell checking. I learn math pretty well and fast but my only problem is I forgot how to do math formulas after a while if I don’t keep practicing them.
However bottom line question is:
what online site offers college courses for being geneticists so I can study while away. I heard many colleges don’t offer that so it was kind of worrying. Help would be appreciated, thanx.
