Hiya, I’m looking to start an MSc in October from Exeter University in Finance and Investment. I’m just wondering if this will improve my job prospects at all given the current state of the economy. Is an MSc generally considered to be a very good thing to do that firms will really take a liking towards? THANK YOU

Hi guys !
I am about to study towards an MSc in Finance course at one of UK’s top business schools. My question is, what do you think the job prospects upon graduation are (given that the financial sector is in a mess) .
I wanted to work as an equity trader, however, I heard that the banks are not recruiting for such positions at the moment. The credit crunch made me thikning about a career in management consulting, yet I don’t know if the economic slowdown won’t affect such opportuinities as well.
Thanks a lot for sharing your views.

I’ve been reading/and hearing about some mixed opinions about opportunities for advancement for medical lab technologists.
Can people in the field describe what the opportunities are like? How often are MLTechnologists “promoted” and are their raises worth it?
I’ve noticed that there’s a shortage in the field, but they pay is still low…is it because people are turned off by the career because it offers low prospects, as in pay, advancement, new projects, etc?
Or is it due to other factors? Any info would be great!

I’ll be graduating with an engineering degree (Comp Eng.) and rethinking my career options. One of them is working in a bank. As far as I know, the backoffice is the most stable but lowest paid but still the starting salary as a grad is higher than most engineering jobs. How would my career advancement be like? I’m concerned about the kinds of responsibility and working hours as well. I’m kind of interested in the trading desk. What are the qualifications I would need to get there?
