If you work in education there are a lot of reasons that you should consider getting a Master of Education degree online. Getting a Master of Education degree can really help your career and you might even be required to get one at some point in your career. Right now in the US there are twenty states that require full time teachers at any grade level to have a Master of Education degree so if you want to teach any grade in those states you need to have a Master of Education degree and getting a Master of Education degree online can make getting your Masters degree a lot easier. Even in the states where a teacher isn’t required to have a Master of Education degree in order to teach there is a very big difference in the salary that a teacher who has a Master of Education is paid. In most states a teacher without an advanced degree makes about $31,000 per year. In most states a teacher that has a Master of Education degree makes $45,000 per year. That is a very large difference in salary. So if you are a teacher that doesn’t have a Master of Education degree and you want to make more money then taking the time and spending the money to get a Master of Education degree is a good investment because you can immediately start earning more money once you get your Master of Education degree.

Getting a Master of Education degree online can also be a more convenient way to get a degree if you are teaching and can’t take time off from your full time job to focus on getting a Master of Education degree. Online masters programs are built around the needs of a working student. Courses are usually available at any hour of the day online and meetings are schedule on the phone or through instant message and chat. Professors are almost always accessible by email and each course usually has a message board where students can post questions, respond to other student’s questions, and share ideas. Work is graded and ideas are discussed mostly through email. So if you are comfortable working on a computer then getting a Master of Education degree online can be a much easier and less stressful way to get a Masters degree than trying to get to a local campus for classes three or four nights a week. Online degree programs are often less expensive than traditional Masters programs as well because you don’t have to pay all the school fees that you would have to pay if you were attending classes at a local campus. There is also less competition for admission to an online Master of Education program than you might find at a local college so have a better chance of getting into the Master of Education program online. Graduate schools can be very competitive so if you don’t want to wait a year or two until there is room for you in the Masters program at a local college get an online Master of Education degree and get your career moving forward faster.

Online- cheaper way more flexible and i can do it when i want.?? but is it worth it? is it recognized by employers the same way? If so which ones are ?
typical college- expensive, less leniant schedule, public speaking, but a better education?
What should I do?
Also, If i do attend a typical college, can an associates degree increase my salary a lot more than just a H.S. degree? What is the average job for one who has aquired an associates degree?

Hi. I just started teaching English in Korea a month ago. My contract is for a year. I want to go to France as an English teaching assistant next year if I can get that job. Otherwise, I’ll stay in Asia (probably Korea or Japan) for at least another year because I am so much happier with this job then I’ve been with any other. I am also fluent in Russian and hope to become fluent in French (took it throughout college). I think I might want to turn language education into a career. If I get a TESOL master’s online, will it increase my salary in Asia, South America and Europe? Also, If I pass the subject tests in Russian and French for American teachers and have an online master’s in TESOL, will I be able to teach these languages in the United States? I know that TESOL is about teaching English, but it’s still a degree in teaching a foreign language. Will anyone take an online degree seriously anyway? What if it’s an online master’s, but from an actual university? Thanks.

I need some good ADVICE. I have been living overseas and have been doing a Masters in Education ONLINE at Seton Hall (so it is accredited, part of the brick and mortar school). I didnt want to waste time, and that is why I did it. I completed one year of the 2 year program. Bcs I knew I was coming back to live in the U.S., I decided to apply to a local University to complete the Masters in person at the University. They “assured” me I would be able to transfer ALL the credits and finish the Masters in one year. Because of this, I took a leave of absence from the other program.
NOW, I get back to the U.S. and spoke with my advisor at the University local, and she told me that there was a problem and that all my credits will NOT transfer, and that I have to begin the Masters from scratch and do everythign over again (I can only transfer 2 courses). Because I took a semester off at the other one (I didnt want to pay for classes that I would have to take again), if I go back to take ONLINE, I will not be able to start classes again (it is a cohort program, in which we take classes at the same pace) until August 2010, and finish in Spring 2012, the same as the local University.
So, basically my choices are to start the Masters from scratch at the local University adn start in January 2010 and finish in Spring 2012, or wait until the fall 2010, and continue online, but only have one year of classes to complete. (and not have to repeat all the classes again) I know it is “better” to do it in person, but for this degree, I dont feel it really matters in terms of connections, because I will be taking the internship here in the U.S.
I am so confused, what should I do?? Would you take the entire program over again just to do it in the classroom? or wait until the fall and finish online and only have one year left. Either way, I will finish both programs in Spring 2012….what do you think I should do??

Here’s the deal…my wonderful husband is in the military. He is an E5 and testing for E6 in a few days. The highest rank an airman can be is an E9. So he’s obviously got some rank on him. Here’s our dilemma. His term is up in December 09. At that point he will have been in for 11 years. We are trying to decide what is best for us. We can’t decide whether or not we should re-enlist or not. If he does re-enlist we will only have nine more years before he can retire if he wants and collect that lovely paycheck every month. Not to mention the free medical and dental for our family for life. But this also means that I am out of a job or at least a career. I would have to work doing something but I would just take a job that wasn’t a career path and just more or less a way to make some money. The other option we have is for him to get out and then me take over my fathers business. I would probably make around $70,000 per year but I would also be a full time career woman. This has never been my dream. I have always dreamt of being a mommy that works not a working mommy. You know? Another dilemma for that would be my man would then be the one who takes any old job here and there that he can. What do we do???
Military Career
Pros
Only nine more years
Medical and dental benefits for life.
The chance to see the world perhaps.
A guaranteed paycheck after retirement every month.
Military Career
Cons
My man could be gone for up to a year at a time away from me and his family.
It can be a dangerous job.
No stability- we won’t be able to purchase a house because you never know where you’ll be.
Uprooting our family when we have to.
Moving far from both our hometowns
**I also must mention that my man has a five year old daughter from a previous marriage. The little girl lives in TX with her mother. If we keep getting uprooted it may be hard for us to see her. Especially if we get re-located overseas**
WHAT DO WE DO????????
I would love to get both military and civilian feedback…especially military wives.
