What Career Besides The Military Allows You To Travel?
-Right now I’m taking classes for surgical technology. I’m hoping that my interest in medicine will favor me a spot in the peace core. I’m not too interested in making a lot or living extravagantly I just want to experience other cultures. My main focus is Thailand. I guess my main question(s)…haha.. any idea of a better career path that would keep me moving through out the world..besides corporate jobs. Also, any references or links to help people travel abroad would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the help!

Airline pilots/flight attendants are two obvious ones.
Journalists
Musicians/artists
Nurses/doctors, other medical professions
I was thinking about a flight attendant or a crewmember on a merchant vessel or something….but since you’re in the medical profession, you might try Doctors without Borders. I’ve heard they travel to lots of developing countries and help people. Or maybe some other charity or NGO (like the red cross) might suit you. Good luck.
Medical work or teaching English will both offer you good opportunities for overseas work. Another possible route would be diplomacy. You can take the Foreign Service exam for embassy jobs and if you succeed you will be posted to various countries for 2 year terms. If you prefer to work in medicine, there are numerous organizations and charity groups that may have posts that would interest you. Do a google search on international development and you will find many possibilities.

If you still wanted to somehow keep connected with the military…you could try a contracting job on your local military base. My sister in law works for a contractor who handles the business end of marketing military related items for other countries we are allies with…she is responsible for arranging the meetings, setting up itineraries. So far she’s been to England, Israel, and just recently Australia.
I’ve got a few friends who have decided to go into teaching English in Thailand and around the South East Asian region. Learning English is a big business at the moment, especially in Asia. All you need to do is take a basic course in english teaching and you’re set to go. The pay is not always great but it’s good if you’re wanting to experience different cultures and go places.
