What Happens If I Wash Out Of A Military Career?
Say if I enlist and want to be a pararescueman…for some reason if I wash out or get injured, does that mean my contract is broken and they air force puts me wherever they want me, like a cook or some other boring *** job, or do I have a choice?
If Obama Wins, Does It Mean I Wasted My Military Career On 24 Hour Alert Against A Commie Invasion?
Make no mistake, if you wash out of the pipeline for the Para-Rescue you are now subject to reclassification to whatever job that the US Air Force deems to put you in. If you have outstanding ASVAB scores you MAY be given a FIELD choice, but you will NOT be given a choice of jobs.
Correct.
When you join you join the service. You do NOT join to do a specific job. (Unless you are an officer in the Nurse Corp, Chaplain Corp, Medical Corp, etc.) So if you wash out of para-rescue they can stick you into something else. You may get to express an opinion but other than that, no choice.
It depends on the circumstances. If you enlist and are injured/unable to complete the pararescue training successfully but are fit for military duty, you would be reassigned to another career field. If you are injured and not fit for military duty, you would be discharged.
Well, injury happens all the time. In fact it happened to me. From my expirences they will put you in a holding platoon until you have recovered from your injury and allow you to join with the next class.
You have to remember that the armed services invest a great deal of money and resourses in your training and want you to complete it. Of course some injuries are worse than others, but based on my expirences in the Marines you will get a choice in MOS.
