If you wash out of training then they reassign you to where the military needs you. If you have outstanding ASVAB scores you MAY be given a FIELD choice, but you will NOT be given a choice of jobs. When you join you join the service. You do NOT join to do a specific job. (Unless you are an officer in the Nurse Corp, Chaplain Corp, Medical Corp, etc.) So if you wash out of para-rescue they can stick you into something else. You may get to express an opinion but other than that, no choice. Correct.

If you enlist and are injured/unable to complete the pararescue training successfully but are fit for military duty, you would be reassigned to another career field. In fact it happened to me. From my expirences they will put you in a holding platoon until you have recovered from your injury and allow you to join with the next class. You have to remember that the armed services invest a great deal of money and resourses in your training and want you to complete it. Of course some injuries are worse than others, but based on my expirences in the Marines you will get a choice in MOS. Well, injury happens all the time. In fact it happened to me.
