im interested in a computer field career.
I already have a bachelors degree so i dont want to go back for 4 more years of schooling but are there any short (1-2 years) computer programs where graduates make good money after?

I had a 4 year degree and almost immediately transferred what I could to a 2 year associate’s degree program, so I could get a practical degree in computers. I mainly had to take the core courses. If you have the interest and ability, I’d focus on networking, since that’s one of the hottest computer fields right now. You could take continuing education classes since you already have a 4 year degree, but I would do some informational interviews with people doing this in your area, to find out if they would hire you. You also have to be careful about your location, since some areas are saturated with networking types.
Programming has been outsourced quite a bit, except web programming and design, as well as graphic design. But so many people want to do web programming, you have to be very good and learn many languages, but you can do that at a 2 year college or on your own. If you do it on your own, you’re going to have to prove yourself with a portfolio of your web sites you’ve created.
Otherwise, you’d need to get another degree at a 4 year college if you wanted to learn about databases, which is the other popular computer job now. Two year degrees in databases aren’t thought of highly for some reason.
Other popular computer occupations are computer engineering, but I haven’t worked in that field, but again, I think you’d have to get a degree from a four year college, I don’t think certifications from continuing education classes would cut it.
If you focused on pc technology and repair, you could just take continuing education classes, and you may be able to get a job since you have a 4 year degree, but that’s where you’d most likely stay, either as a pc technician or as a help desk agent. With a 4 year degree, you may be able to move up and manage the area, too.
Other computer jobs are systems analysis and security administration, but usually they require not only a computer degree but years of experience.
