What Is The Best School To Attend To Become A Medical Assistant Online?

I am looking into Penn Foster, US Career Institute, SJVC Online, and Allied Health Institute.
I would like a place that is affordable, accredited, and where I can sit for the CMA or RMA exam.

I am not trying to be mean about online programs but taking it onlince you get NO CLINICAL training at all. Zero! Employers are going to look for people who completed an internship and what types of things they assisted with. Its not really something that you could even feel comfortable to take online. Its better to actually go get hands on training. I know they make it seem so appealing to go online and take these courses but trust me your going to get much more out of the classroom setting with hands on training. I mean put yourself in an employers position….who are you going to hire? The person who completed an associates degree program and completed an internship and had hands on exp working with patients and assisting with procedures or the person who completed an online program. Its totally your choice but just weigh your options!!!! Its well worth it to actually go! GOOD LUCK HUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don’t want to discourage you, and if most people have a reason to take the online courses, so I’m sure you have taken that into consideration.
In my area, there are jobs available for approximately 1/3 of the graduates from the programs that are attended in residence. These students have the advantage that they are placed in a clinic during their program which, if they are good, often hires them. Those graduates from online programs are at a distinct disadvantage when looking for employment.
Couple that with the fact that no state in the US currently requires a clinic to hire a graduate of a program or a certified or registered medical assistant, and can hire anyone they want off the street, means that you also have the chance of being behind the cousin of someone who works at the clinic.
All that being said, I cannot recommend any of the online programs.

There is no “best” online school. They will all waste your time. Go to your future employer (doctor’s office or hospital) and ask exactly what training they require.
Most people take the online course and then have to take all the “training” again anyway..

I agree with the last poster. It is better to go to an offline course if possible. You have to be hands on. Try your local adult school. They have low cost flexible schedule classes if that is an issue. Good luck and don’t give up.
