What “real” Colleges/universities Offer Online Or Corespondance Degrees?
I am looking to go back to school for a BS and I would like to receive my degree from a school that doesn’t advertise during daytime TV. Does anyone know of any “real” colleges that offer distance learning or something like that? I would just go to my local university (UNLV), but I don’t have the time, so online education is my best option. Also “Real” colleges seem to be cheaper, as opposed to “for profit” schools like University of Phoenix and so on. I understand that some online universities are accredited regionally, but I still would prefer a University of (Name of state or city) Any Ideas? And any info on any credit per test like CLEP would be apprecated. Thanks!!!!

Re: regional accreditation. That’s what you want – that’s higher than national accreditation and is what UNLV has. I know, it doesn’t sound logical, but it’s the way it is. There’s no reason not to pick a school with a good reputation, there are plenty of options out there now but regional accreditation is almost essential in the choice.
Re: CLEP – all the information you need can be found on the College Board website. Be careful though, not all schools accept all tests and some have credit limits. This isn’t the easy way to go – it’s just like walking into Psych 240 on the last day of class and just taking the final exam.http://www.collegeboard.com/student/test…
Very many state universities offer degree wholly online now.
One that comes to mind as a good possibility for you is the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV)http://distance_ed.unlv.edu/cp/cp_home.h…
They offer a BA in Social Studies online and I’ve never seen them on daytime television.
UNev Reno offers a bunch of online courses that all of the UNev campuses will accept in transfer.
just an idea for a starting place.
If you define a specific major, we might be able to point you to some even better ideas.
They are starting too, probably because to compete with University of Phoenix. Such formats are attractive to non-traditional students.
My university, which is the University of Missouri-Columbia, now offers online degrees. But it is a real slim selection. I am not sure what they offer. Personal Finance is one of them.
