What Would Be The Best Military Branch To Join For A Career In Automotives?

I just want to go into the reserves. Im pretty sure I can get the job; I got a 94 on the ASVAB. I would really like to join the air force. They have the job “Vehicle and Vehicular Equipment Maintenance” which seems to be automotive. Anyone have information on this. I would also like to hear about what other branches in the military have to offer on this subject.

For automotive I would have to say the Army..
They are larger therefore they will have more of everything in that field.

63B Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic is your MOS for the Army. I have attached a link for some of the tasks that you would perform.
SGT D – ummm 63W was merged into 63B back in 2004 as well as the Army has converted to Two Level of Maintenance -its either Field or Sustainment now.
The majority of 63B positions are in the BCT structure for Field Maintenance (outside of MP, Trans and Engr Bns) while the majority of Sustainment Maintenance SRC 43583G (Component Maintenance Companies – the old DS function) and 43573G (Support Maintenance Company) are in the Reserve Component.

63 B in the army is direct support Maintenence. You will be doing simple repairs and Automotive services. If you really want to get into the “Meat and Potatoes” of Automotive repair work, Sign on as a 63W or 63H Heavy Wheeled or Track Vehicle Repairer. Thats General Support and they work at a depot changing engines, transmissons, and other major assemblys. They are the guys who get the real respect. Not the Grease Monkey 63B guys. Trust me.

    The Army.
The USAF could stick you in a job repairing generators or lawnmowers in the “vehicle and vehicular equipment” field.
The Army will GUARANTEE the MOS that YOU pick. The Air Force won’t.
Like the other guys said – look to the 63 series of Army MOS’s.

63b in the army is working on vehicles and 88m in army is driving trucks 21j and 21e are operating heavy equipment. Army is the way to go if you want to work on land vehicles.

Roger doger.. 63B is the one you want. You can go for track or wheel mechanic and get all kinds of certification. It’s pays good in Iraq as a civilian contractor too.
    Da DoN!
